Desktop Metal Fiber 3D-Drucker

The new Desktop Metal Fiber Printer is the only 3D printer for composites that uses Micro Automated Fiber Placement (µAFP)—enabling exceptional strength in composite parts for a desktop printer. The µAFP head with a closed-loop thermal control system constructs a high-density, continuous fiber reinforcement, while the FFF print head enables a high-resolution outer shell. By using tapes with 12k standard-modulus carbon fibers, a fiber volume fraction of up to 60%, and exceptional resin impregnation, Fiber is able to achieve continuous fiber reinforcement with less than 1% porosity and deliver parts with up to twice the strength of steel at half the weight of aluminum.
